On this April 22, Earth Day, we remember that our common home is not just the ground we walk on, but the living network that sustains us: the forests, the rivers, the animals, the cultures, the peoples, and the sense of sharing that makes us truly human.
The Earth is life, and we are all deeply connected to it.
Today we wish to reaffirm a certainty: each of us plays a leading role in caring for this common home. We are not spectators; we are guardians, sowers of hope, builders of a more just and harmonious future.
At REIBA, our lines of action spring from the heart of the Amazon, where we closely accompany Indigenous peoples in strengthening, revitalizing, and preserving their cultures, their identity, and their ancestral wisdom. We believe that the path to healing our relationship with creation also lies in their roots.
Inspired by Pope Francis’ call to care for our common home, and in continuity with the pastoral commitment that Pope Leo XIV also inspires in us today, we renew our mission: to listen, learn, protect, and act.
That is why we invite you to take on small daily challenges, wherever you are:
🌿 Reduce unnecessary consumption
🌿 Conserve water and energy
🌿 Value and respect cultural diversity
🌿 Act responsibly in our daily decisions
🌿 Raise awareness within our family and community
Every gesture counts. Every action makes a difference. Every committed heart brings about change.
Today more than ever, let us walk together with hope, knowing that caring for the Earth is caring for life, and caring for life is also an act of profound love.
The Earth needs us. And we need her, too.
Amid the challenges facing our planet, let us not lose our capacity for wonder and gratitude. Every sunrise, every flowing river, every culture that endures and flourishes, is a reminder that life continues to forge its path with strength and beauty.
Caring for the Earth also means caring for our relationships.
Learning to live more simply, sharing generously, and recognizing others as an essential part of this great human family. Integral ecology begins in the heart and translates into concrete acts of fraternity.
May this day be an opportunity to renew our personal and communal commitment. No matter how small the effort may seem: every action done with love has the power to multiply and generate hope.
Let us continue walking together, with faith and commitment, trusting that it is possible to build a world where harmony between humanity and creation is a living reality for present and future generations.
